Ashgabat has opened a private laboratory for the examination of food products.

On March 14th, the grand opening of the first private laboratory for food safety in Turkmenistan was held in the Turkmen capital.

This structure was created at the initiative of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, together with a member of the TUIE – “Hil Standart” economic society.

The laboratory’s work is designed to promote the country’s food security, support the private sector of the national economy, realize the export potential of Turkmen food producers, and obtain international accreditation through independent expertise.

In the year there can be conducted a half million studies in 11 areas.

The laboratory was created according to international standards and equipped with high-precision modern instruments from global manufacturers. The USAID project on competitiveness, trade and job creation in Central Asia (CTJ) provided effective support in organizing its activities.

The organization of the work of the expert body involves several stages. Currently, a microbiological laboratory has been launched, and a physicochemical laboratory opening is planned for September. In the future, the laboratory will receive internationally recognized accreditation.

The solemn ceremony was attended by the chairman and members of the board of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA in Turkmenistan Allan Mustard, representatives of USAID, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the media.

As noted, the implementation of this project is evidence of the success of multidimensional cooperation between Turkmenistan and America, our state’s commitment to the development of the private sector and the diversification of the national economy.
